Meet Eddie

Meet Eddie - Hearts fan Eddie attends our Sensory and Therapeutic Hub at Riccarton one day per week. He has a really exciting programme of support, including rebound therapy and exercise. He also uses our sensory kitchen.

Eddie shares his experience of being supported by Capability Scotland.

I have been supported by Capability Scotland at different stages throughout my life. Capability Scotland has given me support to become more independent and I have been involved with lots of different aspects of the organisation for example volunteering in the fundraising team which I enjoyed.

I really enjoy coming to the Riccarton Hub, Tuesday nights is when I get excited about coming to the hub on the Wednesday.  My carers and friends outwith Capability Scotland have noticed a real difference in my well-being since I started coming.  I am much happier in myself.

I take part in rebound therapy which I feel benefits my back and hips.  I feel great in myself with no pain in my legs after my session.  I also use the 'motomed' to strengthen my leg muscles - doing around 5k each time i use it!

I also have the opportunity to get involved in cooking a two-course lunch with some of my friends.  Each week we choos what we are making for the following week, finding out what ingredients we need and sometimes choosing food from different countries.

Capability Scotland is delighted to support Eddie and work with him as he identifies new outcomes for himself.

We want our support to provide opportunities which empower people to realise their ambitions and achieve their full potential.
