Coronavirus (Covid-19) Update: 17 March 2020

17 March 2020

Capability Scotland would like to provide an update to our arrangements with regards to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We understand what a worrying time it is for our customers and staff, so we want to make sure everyone is safe and well. If you're a customer of ours and feel like you are unwell, please let your service know as soon as possible.

If you attend our day services.

We will be ramping down our day service availability with a full closure of the centres themselves by Friday 20 March. However, we may be able to support you in other ways and if you feel that you need to attend our day services, even after Friday, please contact the service and we will try our best to support you.

If we support you in your own home.

We will still be providing our essential care services to you in your home. However, if we help you take part in social activities, we will have to hold off on those for now for everyone's safety. We know being stuck in the house is not good for your mental or physical health, so our staff will help support you to access open areas, such as parks, where social contact is going to be very minimal - and our staff will work hard to ensure this is safe for everyone. We'll absolutely be able to support you in using technology to help you speak to your family and friends, such as Skype or Facetime.

If you stay at one of our residentials.

Our staff will still be on-site and there to support you as normal. If you take part in social activities outside of the residential care home, we will have to stop those for now, for everyone's safety. We are also limiting our visitors to only the most essential people. We know this means you may have to cancel visits from family and friends but our staff will help you get in touch with them whenever you want to, using Skype, Facetime, or giving them a phonecall.

If you or your child attends our schools.

Our schools will remain open until such a time as we are advised by the government or relevant authorities that they should close. If you have any concerns, please get in touch with your school who will be happy to discuss this.

If you or someone you know is joining us for respite.

Given the situation, we've taken the decision to suspend our respite services until further notice. This wasn't an easy decision but going by the guidance from authorities, we agree it's the best thing to do for everyone. If you want to discuss your respite booking, please get in touch with us.

Keep in Touch

We'll be posting further updates across all our social channels to keep you and the rest of our community up to date. We're on social media, so you can keep up to date wherever you prefer:
