We are currently looking to recruit a Lead Occupation Therapist on a permanent basis, to work as part of our team in Stanmore and Corseford Schools.

OTL - SHS

The role involves managing our Occupational Therapy (OT) team. You will be required to manage and develop a team of staff across the two sites to ensure that a high quality service is received by children and young people who attend the school, residential and short breaks services whilst involving and supporting relatives.

Whilst you will not be expected to have a case load, there is an expectation that you will provide some hands on work for more complex cases and clinical cover when needed. A high level of clinical expertise is required to support the team and you will also need to maintain an overview of cases to ensure clinical governance is adhered to and an outstanding service is delivered.

Key Requirements:

You will have a suitable qualification and will be registered with the Health Care & Professions Council (HCPC).

You will have proven post-qualification experience and/or training of working with children and young people with complex health needs.

You will have a holistic approach and proven skills in:

  • Managing and developing staff
  • Ability to lead and manage change
  • A high level of relevant clinical knowledge and experience

Full Driving Licence* (we will consider alternative arrangements that achieve the same outcomes for candidates who have a disability that prevents them from having a driving licence).

Service Details

Capability Scotland has two Grant Aided Special Schools; Stanmore House School in Lanark and Corseford School in Johnstone. Both Schools provide education to 30 learners and also provide residential and respite services. In addition to teaching staff, the schools have a dedicated care and allied health team to support our children and young people.

The Allied Health service delivers integrated health care for children and adults who have complex needs across Scotland, with a primary focus across the central belt. This is achieved through personalised specialist health care and effective inter -disciplinary working of the Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech and Language therapy services.
