About our Service

Corseford Short Breaks is an exciting service in Renfrewshire, which provides short breaks, afterschool club, weekend and school holiday provisions for children and young people with complex additional support and exceptional health care needs.

The service provides play and activity opportunities and different leisure experiences for children and young people from across Renfrewshire and further afield.

We are currently looking to recruit 6 Relief Support Workers to work as part of team of care staff, to provide a safe, caring environment for children and young people in our Corseford service. We are predominantly open Tuesday night, Wednesday Out of School Club and Friday-Monday overnights, during term time, but can be open different nights during school holidays, depending upon demand.

We need some exceptional people to join us in our work and we want to hear from you if you want make a real difference to children and young people's lives.

The successful candidates will support individuals to access play and leisure opportunities within both centre based and community settings as well as provide relevant care as part of the residential short stays. You will also work with the management team to develop the existing service model with a view to introducing children and young people to new experiences and opportunities.

You will be responsible for personal care as appropriate, maintaining accurate records in line with organisational policies and procedures and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.

You will receive excellent training to support you to meet the health care needs of our young people - including Child Protection, enteral feeding, medication administration, seizure management.

You must be eligible for SSSC registration, registered with the NMC, Teaching Council or an appropriate Registration Body. Experience of working with children and young people with disabilities is desirable, however more important is good values and caring nature. You will be energetic and motivated to work in a dynamic environment and demonstrate a value base to match the aims of the service.

Key Requirements

  • Good values and caring nature
  • Willingness to undertake any personal development opportunities.
  • A care related SVQ Level 3 and HNC in Health & Social Care (or the willingness to gain this qualification in a given timescale).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and on your own initiative.
  • Availability to work flexible shifts at weekends including night shifts.
  • Full driving licence and willing to drive the minibus desirable.
  • Experience working with people with Autism would be an advantage, but not essential as training will be given.
